Stat. tit. 19, § 19-1008","heading":"Powers of commission","body":"Every city-county park and recreation commission created by this\n\nact shall have all the powers necessary or convenient for the\n\naccomplishment of the purpose and provisions hereof, including, in\n\naddition to others herein granted, the following powers, all of\n\nwhich shall be exercised subject to approval by the governing body\n\nof the city and the board of county commissioners:\n\n(a) To establish a city-county park and/or recreation system\n\nincluding, but not limited to, in combination or singly, facilities\n\nas parks, parkways, playgrounds, playfields, swimming pools,\n\nstadiums, social or community centers, arboreta, botanical gardens,\n\nconservatories, museums, preserves, wildlife areas, zoological\n\ngardens, other recreation areas and areas of scenic, historic or\n\narchaeologic interest, and lands reserved for flood conditions for\n\nimpounding runoff water or for other conservation purposes.\n\n(b) To adopt such rules and regulations for the operation of the\n\nrecreation system as may be deemed necessary or expedient.\n\n(c) To purchase, lease, or otherwise acquire land or buildings\n\nor portions of buildings for recreation purposes.\n\n(d) To erect, maintain, and operate public recreation buildings\n\nor facilities at one or more places within or beyond the corporate\n\nlimits of any county, city, town or school district in the\n\nrecreation system.\n\n(e) To accept transfer of any existing public recreation\n\nfacility or facilities by lease or other conveyance.\n\n(f) To acquire by purchase or otherwise equipment and other\n\npersonal property customarily used in the operation of public\n\nrecreation facilities, including necessary motor vehicles.\n\n(g) To sell and dispose of personal property acquired by\n\npurchase or other means when by proper resolution the commission\n\nfinds that said property is not needed for recreation purposes.\n\n(h) To accept, hold, and convey legal title to interests in real\n\nproperty in the name \"City-County Park and Recreation Commission of\n\n_______ County\", which shall be its official name. Deeds or other\n\nconveyances of said interests in real property shall be executed for\n\nand on behalf of the commission by the chairman and shall be\n\nattested by the secretary, only after authorization by resolution of\n\nthe governing body of the city and the board of county\n\ncommissioners.\n\n(i) To accept or in its discretion to decline donations tendered\n\nto the city-county park and/or recreation system.","path":["OK Code","Title 19"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os19.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"648e417d5908c02e354c85a8a6de6c175b4a6df99ecd493adb553024e07493c0","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-19-19-1007","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-19-19-1009"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
