The court shall order any person represented by a county\n\nindigent defender to pay the costs of representation. In assessing\n\nthese costs, the court shall take into consideration the ability of\n\nthe defendant to pay and any likely hardship which would result.\n\nThe court may then order payment to be made in total or in\n\ninstallments and, in the case of installment payments, set the\n\namount and due date of each installment.\n\nB. Costs assessed pursuant to this section shall be collected\n\nby the court clerk and deposited in the court fund.\n\nC. Costs of representation shall be a debt against the person\n\nrepresented until paid and shall be subject to any method provided\n\nby law for the collection of debts.\n\nD. Any order directing the defendant to pay costs of\n\nrepresentation shall be a lien against all real and personal\n\nproperty of the defendant and may be filed against such property and\n\nforeclosed as provided by law for such liens.\n\nE. For purposes of collection of debts arising from the\n\nprovisions of this section, the court clerks for the district courts\n\nof this state are authorized to utilize the procedures provided in\n\nSection 205.2 of Title 68 of the Oklahoma Statutes in the same\n\nmanner and to the same extent as a state agency and the Oklahoma Tax\n\nCommission is directed to provide the same service to court clerks\n\nattempting to collect such debts pursuant to Section 205.2 of Title\n\n68 of the Oklahoma Statutes as it provides to state agencies.","path":["OK Code","Title 19"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os19.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"b15cc5f5bfb4d3e3621c63f081ab4419e3fc6756251e209d85484ff8202911de","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-19-19-137.3","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-19-19-138.11"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
