Stat. tit. 19, § 19-1716","heading":"Protests against budget","body":"Within fifteen (15) days after the filing of any district budget\n\nwith the State Auditor and Inspector, any taxpayer may file protests\n\nagainst any alleged illegality of the budget in the manner provided\n\nby this section and Sections 24103 through 24111 of Title 68 of the\n\nOklahoma Statutes. The fifteen-day protest period begins upon the\n\ndate the budget is received in the Office of the State Auditor and\n\nInspector. After receipt of a taxpayer protest, the State Auditor\n\nand Inspector shall transmit by certified mail one copy of each\n\nprotest to the district, and one copy of each protest to the county\n\ntreasurer and the excise board of each county in which the district\n\nis located. The taxpayer protest shall specify the alleged\n\nillegality in the budget and the grounds upon which the alleged\n\nillegality is based. Any protest filed by any taxpayer shall inure\n\nto the benefit of all taxpayers. If no protest is filed by any\n\ntaxpayer within the fifteen-day period, the budget and any\n\nappropriations thereof shall be deemed legal and final until amended\n\nby the board or the county excise board as authorized by law.\n\nTaxpayers shall have the right at all reasonable times to examine\n\nthe budget on file with the board, the county excise board or the\n\nState Auditor and Inspector for the purpose of checking illegalities\n\nin the budget or for filing protests in accordance with this section\n\nand Sections 24103 through 24111 of Title 68 of the Oklahoma\n\nStatutes.","path":["OK Code","Title 19"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os19.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"c51e7d0bcdbc4fcab8460a5e121ae390023eab47d1a03de09f69acfdc1b9c0bc","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-19-19-1715","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-19-19-1717"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
