Stat. tit. 19, § 19-22","heading":"Proclamation of Governor - Designation of county seat -","body":"Officers.\n\nUpon the receipt by the Governor, of the transcript of all the\n\nreturns, as provided herein, he shall proceed at once to declare the\n\nresult of said special election, and, if said election shall have\n\nbeen held for the purpose of forming a new county, and sixty percent\n\n(60%) of the votes cast in each particular territory be in favor of\n\nthe formation of said proposed new county, the Governor shall,\n\nwithin sixty (60) days thereafter, issue his proclamation, declaring\n\nsaid new county legally created, and shall, after five (5) days\n\nnotice to each and every place which is an applicant for the county\n\nseat of said county, give each and every such applicant a hearing as\n\nto the merits of each place to become the county seat of said\n\ncounty, and shall decide from the merits thus presented, which place\n\nshall be the temporary county seat thereof, and shall designate the\n\nsame the county seat thereof, which place so designated shall be and\n\nremain the county seat, unless afterwards changed, as provided by\n\nlaw; and the candidates receiving the highest number of votes cast\n\nat said election, as returned and certified to the Governor for the\n\nvarious offices, shall be declared elected, and, at once, enter upon\n\ntheir duties as such officers.","path":["OK Code","Title 19"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os19.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"818000cf457e97e6c94a265256a4d2a3ad0bbbb337a424e9b661746466d1f3e4","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-19-19-215.9","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-19-19-220"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
