Stat. tit. 19, § 19-3","heading":"Powers of county exercised by board of commissioners -","body":"Contracts while not acting as a board.\n\nThe powers of a county as a body politic and corporate shall be\n\nexercised by its board of county commissioners.\n\nIt is hereby declared to be contrary to law, and against public\n\npolicy, for any individual county commissioner, or commissioners,\n\nwhen not acting as a board, to enter into any contract, or to\n\nattempt to enter into any contract, as to any of the following\n\nmatters:\n\n(a) Any purchase of equipment, machinery, supplies or materials\n\nof any kind for any county or any commissioner's district, or\n\ndistricts, thereof;\n\n(b) Any contract or agreement relating to or for the leasing or\n\nrental of any equipment, machinery, supplies or materials for any\n\ncounty or any commissioner's district, or districts, thereof;\n\n(c) To do or transact any business relating to such county, or\n\nany commissioner's district, or districts thereof, or to make any\n\ncontract or agreement of any kind relating to the business of such\n\ncounty, or any commissioner's district, or districts thereof;\n\nAnd none of such acts or attempted contracts as above set forth,\n\ndone or attempted to be done, by an individual county commissioner\n\nor commissioners, when not acting as a board, shall ever be subject\n\nto ratification by the board of county commissioners, but shall be\n\nillegal, unlawful and wholly void.\n\nProvided that nothing herein shall be construed as prohibiting\n\nor preventing the chairman of the board of county commissioners from\n\nperforming such duty or duties as he may be required by law to\n\nperform as chairman of such board, but only after the board, by a\n\nmajority vote thereof, shall have authorized and directed such\n\nperformance by said chairman.","path":["OK Code","Title 19"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os19.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"f915389d67125b008737f02aff6060c191794a0f90083ec73b1e5c57e2442b5a","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-19-19-299","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-19-19-300"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
