It shall be the duty of the sheriff, undersheriffs and\n\ndeputies to keep and preserve the peace of their respective\n\ncounties, and to quiet and suppress all affrays, riots and unlawful\n\nassemblies and insurrections, for which purpose and for the service\n\nof process in civil and criminal cases, and in apprehending or\n\nsecuring any person for felony or breach of the peace, they and\n\nevery constable may call to their aid such person or persons of\n\ntheir county as they may deem necessary.\n\nB. The sheriff, in addition to the duties pursuant to\n\nsubsection A of this section, shall coordinate and administer\n\ncourthouse security.\n\nR.L. 1910, § 1700.
