Stat. tit. 19, § 19-522","heading":"May not recommend or act as attorney - List of attorneys","body":"posted.\n\nNo sheriff, undersheriff, deputy sheriff, or person by either of\n\nthem deputed to do any special act, shall, directly or indirectly,\n\nby himself or through others in any way suggest or indicate to, or\n\nadvise any person having any proceeding or about to have any\n\nproceeding in any court, or other matter, that any attorney or firm\n\nof attorneys is desirable, or successful practitioners, or in any\n\nway do any act liable to influence or direct such person in his\n\nchoice of attorneys. Nor shall any such sheriff, undersheriff, or\n\ndeputy sheriff, appear or advise as attorney or counselor in the\n\ncase, or in any court. Any sheriff, undersheriff, deputy sheriff,\n\nor person so specially deputed, who shall violate any one of the\n\nprovisions of this section shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor,\n\nand for the first offense shall be fined Ten Dollars ($10.00), and\n\non the second conviction shall be fined not less than Twenty-five\n\nDollars ($25.00); and for the third offense, he shall be removed\n\nfrom office.
