Stat. tit. 19, § 19-554","heading":"Retiring officers - Request for permission to keep and","body":"bear arms - Issuance of commission - Exemptions.\n\nA. The retiring officer shall request in writing to the board\n\nof county commissioners of the county in which the officer retired\n\nfor permission to keep and bear arms. The board of county\n\ncommissioners may grant said request and the sheriff of the county\n\nmay issue a commission except in the following cases:\n\n1. When the retiring officer has been convicted of a felony\n\ninvolving moral turpitude;\n\n2. Where the officer is mentally or physically incapacitated\n\nand could not perform duties if recalled; and\n\n3. When good cause is shown that granting approval of the\n\nrequest would be detrimental to the public health, safety and\n\nwelfare.\n\nB.
