Stat. tit. 19, § 19-629","heading":"Nonexistent assets due to bank failure, robbery, etc. -","body":"Determination of status - Liquidation from penalty and interest on\n\ndelinquent taxes.\n\nUpon presentation by the county treasurer to the county\n\ncommissioners, either for purpose of accounting or settlement as by\n\nlaw required, or otherwise, of statements of account and balance\n\nsheets in which is disclosed an item or items of assets that amount\n\nto fiction, represented by bank accounts or securities that, because\n\nof bank failure, robbery, theft, embezzlement, or otherwise, are\n\nnonexistent, worthless, or unenforceable, then the county\n\ncommissioners, judge of the district court and district attorney are\n\nhereby authorized, by quasi-judicial proceedings, the judge of the\n\ndistrict court presiding, to make a determination of the status of\n\nsuch item or items of assets; and upon first finding that such item\n\nor items have been carried on the treasurer's accounts fifteen (15)\n\nyears or more without realization or abatement, they shall then\n\nproceed to further determination for purpose of correcting said\n\naccounts to procure a liquid condition. If, after first finding\n\nsaid fifteen (15) years to have fully run, they find such\n\nfictitious, nonexistent, or worthless and unenforceable asset to be\n\nnot identifiable as an asset of a corresponding fund liability\n\naccount, they shall so state, and thereupon, by decree and order\n\ndirect that the county treasurer henceforth apply and determine\n\npercentage, not exceeding twenty-five percent (25%) of the penalty\n\nand interest on delinquent taxes, as collected by him, that would\n\notherwise be apportioned to the county under the statute, to the\n\nliquidation of such fictitious, nonexistent, or worthless asset, and\n\nto so continue until such account is closed by such liquidation.","path":["OK Code","Title 19"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os19.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"ff9489c3913b87851269fbdcb8ac9b246d771ebce6803b78a71114ebb859ee30","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-19-19-627","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-19-19-63"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
