Stat. tit. 19, § 19-863.44","heading":"Building and/or fire codes","body":"Any county of the state to which the provisions of Section 863.2\n\nof this title are applicable is authorized to adopt, by appropriate\n\nresolution of the board of county commissioners, building and/or\n\nfire codes, which codes shall be designed for the purpose of\n\npromoting, benefiting and protecting the public health, safety and\n\nwelfare of the inhabitants of this state, and which shall be\n\napplicable to the unincorporated areas of the county, as hereinafter\n\nprovided.\n\nAll building materials, equipment and methods of installation\n\nand/or construction shall be at least the equivalent of that\n\nprescribed in any building or fire code adopted by the board of\n\ncounty commissioners, under the provision of this act, in quality,\n\nstrength, effectiveness, fire resistance, durability, and safety;\n\nprovided that any codes adopted pursuant to this act shall not apply\n\nto the installation and maintenance of electric supply and\n\ncommunications lines of public utilities and public service\n\ncompanies which are subject to regulation by the State Corporation\n\nCommission.
