Stat. tit. 19, § 19-864.11","heading":"Manner of installation","body":"All electrical wiring, materials, equipment and the methods of\n\ninstallation thereof, in every county or metropolitan area subject\n\nto the provisions of this act, shall be installed, furnished and\n\nused in such manner as to protect the safety of all persons and\n\nproperty affected thereby. Compliance with the electrical code of\n\nany city having a population of one hundred eighty thousand\n\n(180,000), or more, according to the last Federal Decennial Census\n\nor any future Federal Decennial Census, which city is located in the\n\ncounty of inspection, shall be deemed to be prima facie evidence of\n\ncompliance with this act.\n\nIf the electrical code of any such city, as defined in this\n\nsection, or any electrical code which may be adopted by the board of\n\ncounty commissioners by virtue of the authority hereinafter granted,\n\ncontains no specific standards as to the manner of electrical\n\nwiring, materials, equipment and the methods of installation\n\nthereof, compliance with the statutes of this state pertaining to\n\nthe installation of electrical materials and equipment and\n\nconformity with the regulations set forth in then current National\n\nElectrical Code which is the standard of the National Board of Fire\n\nUnderwriters for electrical wiring and apparatus, as recommended by\n\nthe National Fire Protection Association and approved by the\n\nAmerican Standards Association, shall be prima facie evidence of\n\nconformity with approved standards of safety to persons and property\n\nand of compliance with this act.\n\nIn the event that a board of county commissioners of any county\n\nor the governing body of any city affected by this act fails to\n\nenter into an agreement authorized under this act with a city or\n\ncounty, as the case may be, or if such an agreement is terminated,\n\nthe governing body of any city or the board of county commissioners\n\nof such county is hereby granted the authority to adopt an\n\nelectrical code for the city or county, as the case may be. Such\n\ncode shall not be adopted by the board of county commissioners until\n\nafter it has held a public hearing at which all interested persons\n\nhave been permitted to appear to express their views as to what\n\nprovisions the code should contain. Public notice of such hearing\n\nmust be given by the board of county commissioners by publication in\n\nits proceedings at least thirty (30) days prior to the date of said\n\nhearing. From and after the effective date of any county electrical\n\ncode adopted by the board of county commissioners under the\n\nauthority created herein, all electrical installations within the\n\nunincorporated area of the county must be made to conform therewith.\n\nSuch code shall afford safety to persons and property from hazardous\n\nelectrical installations, but shall not unduly restrict owners in\n\nthe improvement of their property.","path":["OK Code","Title 19"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os19.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"88bbed8d102717370d3bd7130c9ba619500a6879ff5c2857b6e228d094c6212f","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-19-19-864.10","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-19-19-864.12"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
