Stat. tit. 19, § 19-864.2","heading":"Definitions","body":"For the purpose of this act the following words shall have the\n\nfollowing meanings:\n\na. \"Joint electrical examining and appeals board\" shall be held\n\nto mean the joint city-county electrical examining and appeals board\n\nhereinafter referred to.\n\nb. \"Electrical inspector\" shall be held to mean and include the\n\nelectrical inspector of any city, county or metropolitan area within\n\nthe terms of this act, or any of his duly authorized assistants.\n\nc. \"Class A electrical contractor\" shall be held to mean any\n\nperson, firm or corporation licensed to engage in the business of\n\nwiring, rewiring, installing, repairing or altering any electrical\n\nwiring, or installing or repairing any electrical apparatus or\n\nelectrical appliances in any city, county or metropolitan area.\n\nClass A electrical contractor shall not include persons, firms, or\n\ncorporations engaged in the business of selling or offering\n\nelectrical materials, electrical apparatus and electrical appliances\n\nfor sale to the public that are not installed by such persons, firms\n\nor corporations. The governing bodies of any city and county within\n\nthe terms of this act may, for good cause shown and in the public\n\ninterest, after public hearing, establish subdivisions of this\n\nclassification. The license should be endorsed by the board to show\n\nthe classification or type of work the license would be limited to.\n\nd. \"Class A journeyman electrician\" shall be held to mean any\n\nperson licensed to engage in the work of wiring, rewiring,\n\ninstalling, repairing or altering any electrical wiring or actually\n\nengaged in installing or repairing any electrical apparatus or\n\nelectrical appliances in any city, county or metropolitan area\n\nwithin the terms of this act. The governing bodies of any city and\n\ncounty within the terms of this act may, for good cause shown and in\n\nthe public interest, after public hearing, establish subdivisions of\n\nthis classification. Any such subdivision license shall be endorsed\n\nby the board to show the classification or type of work authorized\n\nthereunder.\n\ne. \"Class B electrical contractor\" shall be held to mean any\n\nperson, firm, or corporation licensed to engage in the business of\n\nwiring, rewiring, installing, repairing, or altering any electrical\n\nwiring or installing or repairing any apparatus or electrical\n\nappliances in any single-family residence building within any city,\n\ncounty or metropolitan area within the terms of this act.\n\nf. \"Class B journeyman electrician\" shall be held to mean any\n\nperson licensed to engage in the wiring or installing or repairing\n\nof any electrical apparatus or electrical appliances or electrical\n\nwiring within any building constructed for and designated to be used\n\nas a single-family residence in any city, county or metropolitan\n\narea within the terms of this act.\n\ng. \"Appliance repair shop\" shall be held to mean any person,\n\nfirm or corporation licensed to engage in the business of repairing,\n\naltering or otherwise modifying, replacing or changing the function\n\nor parts of electrical appliances.\n\nh. \"Electrical appliance repairman\" shall be held to mean any\n\nperson licensed to engage in the business of actually making\n\nrepairs, alterations or otherwise actually doing the work of\n\nmodifying, repairing or changing the function or parts of electrical\n\nappliances.\n\ni. \"Electrical sign contractor\" shall be held to mean any\n\nperson, firm or corporation licensed to engage in the business of\n\nmanufacturing, assembling, wiring, rewiring, installing, erecting,\n\nrepairing or altering interior or exterior electric signs.\n\nj. \"Journeyman sign electrician\" shall be held to mean any\n\nperson licensed to engage in the business of performing the\n\nassembling, wiring, rewiring, installing, erecting, repairing or\n\naltering interior or exterior electric signs.\n\nk. \"Motor shop\" shall be held to mean any person, firm or\nmbling, wiring, rewiring, installing, erecting,\n\nrepairing or altering interior or exterior electric signs.\n\nj. \"Journeyman sign electrician\" shall be held to mean any\n\nperson licensed to engage in the business of performing the\n\nassembling, wiring, rewiring, installing, erecting, repairing or\n\naltering interior or exterior electric signs.\n\nk. \"Motor shop\" shall be held to mean any person, firm or\n\ncorporation licensed to engage only in the business of the\n\nassembling, wiring, rewiring, installing or repairing electric\n\nmotors, generators and transformers.\n\nl. \"Apprentices and/or helpers\" shall be held to mean any\n\nunlicensed person who assists a licensed contractor or licensed\n\nelectrician in doing the actual work that such electrician or\n\ncontractor is qualified and permitted by license to do.\n\nm. \"Certificate of competency\" shall be held to mean a\n\ncertificate issued to any person who has been certified by the\n\nboard, under the terms of this act, as possessing the skills and\n\nknowledge qualifying him as competent to do and perform those acts\n\nauthorized and permitted by the classification for which the\n\ncertificate is issued.\n\nn. \"Metropolitan area\" shall include all territory within the\n\nlimits of any city or county within the provisions of this act.\n\no. \"Transfer of license\" shall be held to mean allowing the use\n\nof a license or certificate of competency, directly or indirectly,\n\nby any other person, firm or corporation, for the purpose of\n\nobtaining a permit to do any electrical work covered by this act.","path":["OK Code","Title 19"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os19.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"7dc0234f17aa93a8389df5f536e036c3fda1d686d6fce239bfa0a39f3efcb0fb","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-19-19-864.16","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-19-19-864.3"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
