Stat. tit. 19, § 19-864.9","heading":"License - Application","body":"No person, firm or corporation shall engage in the business of\n\nwiring, rewiring, installing, repairing or altering any electrical\n\nwiring or installing or repairing any electrical apparatus,\n\nappliance or fixtures of any kind or description within the limits\n\nof any city, county or metropolitan area within the provision of\n\nthis act without securing from the joint electrical examining and\n\nappeals board, herein authorized, a license. Any person desiring a\n\nlicense shall file with the said board an application showing the\n\nname of the person, firm or corporation in whose name said license\n\nis to be issued, the kind of license applied for, the name of the\n\ncertificate holder under whose supervision work will be done, the\n\nnumber and date of such certificate, and such further information as\n\nmay be required by the board. Said license shall bear the name of\n\nthe certificate holder on the face of the license. All applications\n\nshall be signed by the applicant or a member of the firm or an\n\nauthorized officer of the corporation making the application, and\n\nshall also be signed by the holder of the supporting certificate and\n\nthe certificate shall be attached to the application. The board, if\n\nit finds said application is proper and in accordance with law,\n\nshall approve said application and retain the certificate for its\n\nfile upon furnishing the applicant with a proper receipt therefor.\n\nIf said certificate is withdrawn by the owner thereof, said license\n\nshall become inoperative and no further permits shall be issued by\n\nthe electrical inspector to such license. Such license may be\n\nreinstated and rendered operative by the filing with the board of\n\nanother proper certificate of the joint electrical examining and\n\nappeals board.\n\nNo certificate of competency holder shall be entitled to have\n\noperative more than one license in any classification under this act\n\nat any given time. The certificate of competency holder shall\n\nnotify the board immediately of any change affecting his certificate\n\nor license. The holder of a certificate of competency must at all\n\ntimes be directly associated with the licensee and be in a position\n\nto control or supervise work performed by the firm licensed under\n\nhis certificate of competency. Continued or recurring absence from\n\nthe city, county or metropolitan area by the certificate holder\n\nduring times when jobs or work is being performed by the licensee\n\nshall be deemed prima facie evidence that such certificate holder is\n\nnot exercising the control or supervision herein required.\n\nIn the event of the death of a certificate holder who has been\n\nlicensed as an individual, or in the event of the death, disability\n\nor withdrawal of that person holding the certificate upon which a\n\nlicense has been issued to a partnership or a corporation, the\n\nestate of the deceased individual, the surviving partners or the\n\ncorporation, as the case may be, shall be permitted to complete all\n\nwork then in progress. The estate, the surviving partners or the\n\ncorporation shall have a one-hundred-twenty-day period within which\n\nto affiliate another certificate holder if it desires to continue to\n\nconduct business under the license then in effect. If such\n\naffiliation occurs, the license shall remain valid and renewable; if\n\nsuch affiliation does not occur, the license shall expire at the end\n\nof the one-hundred-twenty-day period, and shall not authorize the\n\nperformance of any work other than uncompleted work which was in\n\nprogress at the time of the death, disability or withdrawal of the\n\ncertificate holder.","path":["OK Code","Title 19"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os19.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"7a6cbf55a7db235c1ac5396f6f8723b92ad18187d220625a8cc8ab90aaea295d","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-19-19-864.8","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-19-19-865.51"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
