Stat. tit. 19, § 19-866.1","heading":"Metropolitan area planning commission - County board of","body":"adjustment.\n\nFor the purpose of cooperating with the State of Oklahoma in\n\nconserving the natural resources of the state, and in promoting the\n\nhealth, safety, peace, morals and general welfare of the people of\n\nthe state, there may be provided in any county of the State of\n\nOklahoma in which there is no city having a population of more than\n\ntwo hundred thousand (200,000), according to the last preceding\n\nFederal Decennial Census or any future federal census, one or more\n\ncity and county planning and zoning commissions, in the manner\n\nherein provided, and for the purpose there is hereby authorized to\n\nbe created in each of such counties city-county cooperative planning\n\ncommissions, which shall be designated \"metropolitan area planning\n\ncommission\", and a county board of adjustment with the respective\n\npowers and duties as set out in this act. In the execution of its\n\npurposes, such metropolitan area planning commission shall function\n\nas an advisory, consultative and coordinating agency, established to\n\nharmonize its planning activities with the planning activities of\n\ndepartments, agencies and instrumentalities of federal, state and\n\nlocal government; and to stimulate public interest and participation\n\nin the development of the area.
