For the purposes of promoting the public health, safety,\n\npeace, morals, comfort, convenience, prosperity, order and general\n\nwelfare, and to lessen danger and congestion of public\n\ntransportation and travel, and to secure safety from fire and other\n\ndangers, and to prevent overcrowding of land, and to avoid undue\n\nconcentration of population, and to provide adequate police\n\nprotection, transportation, water, sewerage, schools, parks,\n\nforests, recreational facilities, military and naval facilities, and\n\nother public requirements, and to prevent undue encroachment\n\nthereon, the board of any such county is hereby empowered in\n\naccordance with the conditions and procedure specified in this act,\n\nto regulate:\n\n1. The location, height, bulk, number of stories and size of\n\nbuildings and other structures in the areas of the county not\n\nincluded within the territorial jurisdiction of the municipality as\n\nherein defined;\n\n2. The percentage of the lot or area which may be occupied;\n\n3. The size of yards, courts and other open spaces;\n\n4. The density and distribution of population; and\n\n5. The uses of buildings, structures and land for trade,\n\nindustry, residence, recreation, civic and public activities and\n\nother purposes.\n\nB. 1. The zoning power hereby conferred shall not apply to the\n\nerection or use of the usual farm buildings for agricultural\n\npurposes, the planting of agricultural crops or forestry activities.\n\n2. For purposes of this subsection, “forestry activity” means\n\nany activity associated with the reforesting, growing, managing,\n\nprotecting and harvesting of timber, wood and forest products\n\nincluding, but not limited to, forestry buildings and structures.\n\nThe term “forestry activity” shall not pertain to areas and property\n\nwhich would restrict access to public road construction or right-of-\n\nway.","path":["OK Code","Title 19"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os19.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"fcbf0d5a3f3fba526fa00aacb7b0ed52f2a0c78ba03ddf1446acba2671bade6f","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-19-19-866.15","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-19-19-866.16a"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
