Stat. tit. 19, § 19-866.27","heading":"Housing code","body":"Whenever a zoning plan and building code have been officially\n\nadopted by the council, authorization is hereby given the council to\n\nestablish a housing code, upon recommendation of the commission, for\n\nthe incorporated municipality. Whenever a zoning plan and building\n\ncode have been officially adopted by the council and board for their\n\nrespective jurisdictions, authorization is hereby given the board to\n\nestablish a housing code for the area over which it exercises zoning\n\njurisdiction, upon recommendation of the commission.\n\nA housing code established under the terms of this act shall\n\nestablish minimum equipment and facility standards relating to\n\nhealth and sanitation including standards for lighting; heating;\n\nventilation; garbage and waste disposal; sewage disposal; water\n\nsupply; and egress. Standards shall be established for the general\n\nsanitary condition of the dwelling unit; sanitary equipment; heating\n\nequipment; chimney and flues, the storage of inflammable liquids,\n\nwiring, and other fire hazards; pest infestation; internal\n\nstructural repair; external structural repair; dampness; and other\n\nfactors relating to health and sanitation. Minimum standards for\n\ncondition of occupancy shall be established relative to general room\n\ncrowding and area crowding for sleeping and nonsleeping area and\n\nrelative to mixing business and living uses in the same area or\n\nstructure.\n\nA housing code established under the authorization of this act\n\nshall be based on a comprehensive survey of the actual condition of\n\nstructures and environmental surroundings in the area as they relate\n\nto quality of housing, and shall be drawn to apply to all types of\n\ndwellings, and the environment thereof, used for human occupancy in\n\nthe area. The enforcement and administration of the housing code\n\nshall be conducted by the inspector of the city and the inspecting\n\nofficer of the county who shall advise with and work in conjunction\n\nwith the city and county health departments in such administration.\n\nAdministration and enforcement shall be carried out on a systematic\n\ninspection basis designed to apply quality of housing standards\n\nequally throughout the area. Enforcement of the housing code shall\n\nbe coordinated with the enforcement program of the building code,\n\nconstruction codes and zoning regulations of the city and county\n\nrespectively.\n\nRegulations authorized by this section shall not be adopted,\n\nchanged, or amended by the council or board until a public hearing\n\nhas been held thereon by the commission.","path":["OK Code","Title 19"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os19.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"6605cfd0501b30d49be9ced58485d855ed33e78aa87b8a8be13d5c808285d3d3","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-19-19-866.26","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-19-19-866.28"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
