Stat. tit. 19, § 19-868.11","heading":"Zoning by board of county commissioners","body":"The board of county commissioners is hereby empowered to adopt\n\nzoning regulations effective in the unincorporated areas of the\n\ncounty for the purposes of promoting the health, safety, peace,\n\nmorals, comfort and the general welfare of the inhabitants;\n\nlessening danger and congestion in public transportation and travel;\n\nsecuring safety from fire and other dangers; preventing overcrowding\n\nof land; avoiding undue concentration of population; providing\n\nadequate police protection, transportation, water, sewerage,\n\nschools, parks, forests, recreational facilities, airports, military\n\nand naval facilities, and other public requirements; and preventing\n\nundue encroachment thereon. The zoning power hereby conferred shall\n\nnot be exercised so as to deprive the owner of any existing property\n\nof its use or maintenance for the purpose to which it is then\n\nlawfully devoted except as hereinafter provided; nor shall the\n\nprovisions of this act apply to the erection, installation and use\n\nof structures and equipment by public utilities subject to the\n\njurisdiction and regulation of the Corporation Commission of the\n\nState of Oklahoma or other similar state or federal regulatory\n\nbodies; nor to the erection or use of the usual farm buildings for\n\nagricultural purposes, the planting of agricultural crops or the\n\nextraction of minerals.","path":["OK Code","Title 19"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os19.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"b61ee12f81e7a59d1587f282be9d5d0596d8752e49366404d4e7c976bc3e5a8f","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-19-19-868.10","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-19-19-868.11a"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
