Stat. tit. 19, § 19-868.3","heading":"Personnel and procedure of county board of adjustment","body":"The county board of adjustment shall be composed of three\n\nresident property owners of the county to be appointed by the board\n\nof county commissioners. At least one member shall be a resident of\n\nthe county seat of such county and at least one member shall be duly\n\nlicensed as an attorney in the State of Oklahoma. The term of each\n\nmember shall be three (3) years except that the terms shall be\n\noverlapping and the membership of the board first appointed shall be\n\nfor terms of one (1), two (2) and three (3) years, respectively.\n\nThe board of county commissioners is hereby authorized to fill\n\nvacancies which may occur in the board and to appoint a substitute\n\nor substitutes to serve in a particular case in which a member or\n\nmembers shall certify his disqualification. Members may be removed\n\nby the board of county commissioners for cause after a public\n\nhearing held for that purpose, and vacancies shall be filled by\n\nadditional appointments. All members of the county board of\n\nadjustment shall serve as such without compensation.\n\nThe county board of adjustment shall elect its own chairman and\n\nshall adopt rules of procedure consistent with the provisions of the\n\nzoning regulations and the provisions of this act. The chairman, or\n\nin his absence the acting chairman, may administer oaths and compel\n\nthe attendance of witnesses. All hearings of the county board of\n\nadjustment shall be open to the public, and minutes shall be kept of\n\nall proceedings and official actions, which minutes shall be filed\n\nin the office of the board and shall be a public record. The board\n\nof adjustment shall fix a reasonable time for the hearing of any\n\nappeal and every appeal shall be heard within sixty (60) days from\n\nthe date of filing.\n\nNotice of hearings before the county board of adjustment shall\n\nbe given by at least one (1) publication in a newspaper of general\n\ncirculation in the county and by mail to the record owners of lands\n\ncontiguous to the affected area at least fifteen (15) days prior to\n\nthe date of such hearing.","path":["OK Code","Title 19"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os19.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"c6e3b631b22c97a197aa9bf2ad9d3ddd7700841225fce371988782240c74a03d","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-19-19-868.22","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-19-19-868.4"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
