Stat. tit. 19, § 19-869.3","heading":"Membership - Qualifications - Term - Joint commission -","body":"Removal - Vacancies - Compensation.\n\nA lake area planning commission shall consist of not less than\n\nfive (5) nor more than eleven (11) members, all of whom shall be\n\nresidents of the affected county or counties. The board of county\n\ncommissioners shall, by resolution creating the planning commission,\n\nestablish the qualifications for membership on the planning\n\ncommission and the length of terms; provided, that after the initial\n\nappointment of planning commission members, not more than forty\n\npercent (40%) of the terms shall expire in any one (1) calendar\n\nyear. In the event that two or more counties elect to cooperate in\n\na joint lake area planning commission, the board of county\n\ncommissioners of each county shall appoint the number of members to\n\nthe planning commission as is mutually agreed by joint resolution of\n\nthe boards of county commissioners of the participating counties.\n\nIn the event that one or more incorporated cities or towns elect to\n\ncome within the jurisdiction of a lake area planning commission, the\n\ngoverning bodies of such cities or towns may appoint the members of\n\nplanning commissions as may be mutually agreed upon in a joint\n\nresolution among the participating county or counties and cities or\n\ntowns.\n\nOnce appointed, members of a lake area planning commission may\n\nbe removed from office during the term only for cause and after a\n\nhearing before the governing body by which the members were\n\nappointed. Vacancies occurring other than through the expiration of\n\nterms shall be filled for the unexpired term.
