Stat. tit. 2, § 2-11-37","heading":"Definitions","body":"As used in the Oklahoma Agriculture Biotechnology Act:\n\n1. \"Donor\" means the organism from which genetic material is\n\nobtained for transfer to the recipient organism;\n\n2. \"Environment\" means all of the land, air, and water and any\n\norganism that is living in association with these elements;\n\n3. \"Gene\" means the unit of heredity within an organism;\n\n4. \"Genetic engineering\" means the technology used to\n\nmanipulate or alter an organism's genetic material through\n\nrecombinant DNA or RNA techniques;\n\n5. \"Organisms\" means any life stage form of microorganisms,\n\nviruses, plants, invertebrate animals, such as insects, or\n\nvertebrate animals, including livestock, which is capable of\n\nsupplying genetic materials or affecting the genetic expression of\n\nanother living entity;\n\n6. \"Permit\" means a document issued by the Board authorizing a\n\nperson to maintain, manipulate, and/or release a regulated article\n\ninto the environment;\n\n7. \"Quarantine\" means the isolation and/or safeguarding of an\n\norganism to prevent it from becoming established in the environment;\n\n8. \"Recombinant DNA or RNA\" means hybrid molecules constructed\n\noutside or inside an organism by joining, deleting, or rearranging\n\nnatural or synthetic DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) or RNA (ribonucleic\n\nacid);\n\n9. \"Regulated article\" means any organism altered or produced\n\nthrough genetic engineering;\n\n10. \"Release into the environment\" means the use of a regulated\n\narticle outside the constraints of physical confinement that are\n\nfound in a laboratory, greenhouse, or a fermenter or other contained\n\nstructure; and\n\n11. \"Vector or vector agent\" means an organism or object used\n\nto transfer genetic material from the donor organism to the\n\nrecipient organism.","path":["OK Code","Title 2"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os2.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"a98cc945b89820941f95fabca611c4b389c5b00f840314a8bbb38ae3241a7740","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-2-2-11-36","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-2-2-11-38"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
