There is created the Oklahoma Arboretum and Botanical Garden\n\nof Oklahoma, which shall be under the direction and supervision of\n\nthe Board of Regents for the Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical\n\nColleges.\n\nB. The director shall be appointed by the Dean of the Division\n\nof Agriculture of Oklahoma State University and approved by the\n\nBoard of Regents.\n\nC. The Oklahoma Arboretum and Botanical Garden director shall:\n\n1. Acquire, archive, process, and disseminate information on\n\nhorticultural and botanical resources that is or could be of value\n\nto policy and decision makers in the state;\n\n2. Act as a representative of the state in horticultural\n\nmatters as pertains to agriculture, both within and outside the\n\nstate, when necessary or appropriate or when requested to do so by\n\nproper authority, which shall include among others the legislative\n\nor executive branches of state government;\n\n3. Conduct research, investigations, and interpretive programs\n\npertaining to horticultural and botanical resources, including but\n\nnot limited to, native woody plant and certain herbaceous plant\n\nspecies distribution within the state, their relationships to each\n\nother and certain fauna and their environment as it pertains to\n\nagriculture;\n\n4. Maintain plant inventories on or near the OSU campus and the\n\nrespective associated sites including but not limited to the Tulsa\n\nArboretum in natural or contrived ecosystems representing park and\n\nurban sites;\n\n5. Establish a depository for preservation of live, native, and\n\nadaptive plant germplasm and as a distribution source of germplasm\n\nto cooperating affiliated arboretums, involved in plant evaluation,\n\nteaching, and research programs;\n\n6. Maintain as a part of the statewide Arboretum plant\n\ncollections representative but not restricted to the flora and plant\n\ncommunities of Oklahoma, which among other benefits will support\n\nresearch and investigative programs; and\n\n7. Contract with persons to assist in training of students and\n\nthe citizenry with respect to our native and introduced woody and\n\nherbaceous plant material and their importance to Oklahoma.\n\nD. The establishment of the Oklahoma Arboretum and Botanical\n\nGarden shall in no way preclude or limit the research and\n\neducational activities concerning biological and botanical resources\n\nand natural or contrived areas by universities, colleges, or other\n\ngovernment entities.\n\nE. The director is authorized to certify copies as being\n\nauthentic reproductions of arboretum resource records held in the\n\nstate.\n\nF.
