It shall be unlawful for any person to do business as a\n\nservice agency or service technician without first obtaining a valid\n\nlicense issued by the State Board of Agriculture and paying the\n\nlicense fee.\n\nB. A service agency license may be issued by the Board after\n\nsubmitting an application on a form prescribed by the Board. The\n\nservice agency shall have the appropriate amount of equipment and\n\nstandards and have employed a qualified licensed service technician\n\nin each category as stated on the application and such other\n\ninformation as required by the Board. Failure to show proper\n\nqualification under the rules prescribed by the Board or for\n\nviolations of any of the provisions of the Oklahoma Service\n\nTechnician and Service Agency Act shall be grounds for the Board to\n\ndeny the issuance or renewal of the license.\n\nC. An apprentice service technician license may be issued after\n\nsubmitting an application on a form prescribed by the Board. The\n\napprenticeship license for new applicants, with no device-related\n\neducational training from an accredited or recognized institution or\n\nexperience, shall be in effect for one year. All apprentice service\n\ntechnicians shall work under the supervision of a licensed service\n\ntechnician when servicing a weight or measure. Failure to show\n\nproper qualifications under the rules prescribed by the Board or\n\nviolations of any provisions of the Oklahoma Service Technician and\n\nService Agency Act shall make it the duty of the Board to deny the\n\nissuance or renewal of the license.\n\nD. 1. An applicant for a service technician license shall\n\nsubmit an application on a form prescribed by the Board. Failure to\n\nshow proper qualifications under the rules prescribed by the Board\n\nor violations of any of the provisions of the Oklahoma Service\n\nTechnician and Service Agency Act shall make it the duty of the\n\nBoard to deny the issuance or renewal of the license.\n\n2. A service technician license may be issued by the Board\n\npursuant to the provisions of the Oklahoma Service Technician and\n\nService Agency Act, provided the applicant qualifies under the\n\nprovisions of the Oklahoma Service Technician and Service Agency Act\n\nor any rule promulgated by the Board and the applicant is limited to\n\nthe category or categories of weight or measure named on the\n\nlicense. The Board shall establish necessary categories of weight\n\nor measure service.\n\n3. Each service technician license shall specify the kind of\n\nwork in which the applicant is authorized to engage, and shall show\n\nthe name and address of the person to whom it is issued, and the\n\nname of the service agency with whom the individual is employed.\n\n4. No service technician license shall be issued or remain\n\nvalid if the Board finds that the applicant has been convicted of a\n\nweight or measure-related felony charge in any state or territory of\n\nthe United States.\n\n5. Any apprentice technician license and service technician\n\nlicense upon separation of employment with the licensed service\n\nagency as stated on the license shall be returned to the Board.\n\nFailure to return and continued use of license upon separation of\n\nemployment shall constitute a violation. The service agency shall\n\nimmediately report the separation or termination of a licensed\n\nservice technician's employment to the Board.\n\nE. All licenses are nontransferable. All licenses shall expire\n\non a date specified by the Board and may be renewed for the ensuing\n\nyear, without penalty. If application is not received within thirty\ne upon separation of\n\nemployment shall constitute a violation. The service agency shall\n\nimmediately report the separation or termination of a licensed\n\nservice technician's employment to the Board.\n\nE. All licenses are nontransferable. All licenses shall expire\n\non a date specified by the Board and may be renewed for the ensuing\n\nyear, without penalty. If application is not received within thirty\n\n(30) days of expiration date, a penalty of twice the amount of the\n\nrenewal fee shall be charged for renewal of the license as\n\napplicable.\n\nF. The following fees shall be paid to the Board. All fees\n\ncollected by the Board, pursuant to this subarticle, shall be\n\ndeposited in the State Board of Agriculture Revolving Fund:\n\n1. A fee of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) for the issuance or\n\nrenewal of a license as a service agency;\n\n2. A fee of Twenty-five Dollars ($25.00) for issuance or\n\nrenewal of a license as a service technician for each category of\n\nweights and measures serviced;\n\n3. A fee of Ten Dollars ($10.00) for the issuance of a license\n\nfor an apprentice service technician; and\n\n4. A fee of Ten Dollars ($10.00) for the issuance of a\n\nduplicate license.\n\nG. The Oklahoma Service Technician and Service Agency Act shall\n\nnot apply to public utilities, public service corporations, rural\n\nelectric associations, or municipal utilities and their subsidiaries\n\nduring work on their own facilities or during the performance of\n\nenergy audits, operations, inspections, maintenance, or repairs for\n\ntheir customers or on their own equipment.","path":["OK Code","Title 2"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os2.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"d2e4e1e2bb604f6be561283c1420b3d1fca1ba8babc518c45809a1bc7b1901b4","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-2-2-14-62","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-2-2-14-64"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
