Stat. tit. 2, § 2-16-2","heading":"Definitions","body":"As used in the Oklahoma Forestry Code:\n\n1. \"Control line\" means a constructed or natural barrier and\n\ntreated fire edge used to control a fire;\n\n2. \"Director\" means the Director of Forestry of the Oklahoma\n\nDepartment of Agriculture, Food, and Forestry;\n\n3. \"Division\" means the Forestry Division of the Oklahoma\n\nDepartment of Agriculture, Food, and Forestry;\n\n4. \"Established property line\" means any boundary line which\n\nhas been:\n\na. recognized by adjoining land owners as a boundary and\n\nuncontested for at least fifteen (15) years including,\n\nbut not limited to, fence lines, roads, and natural\n\nfeatures,\n\nb. established by a registered land surveyor, or\n\nc. uncontested for at least fifteen (15) years;\n\n5. \"Fire line\" means the actively burning or burned perimeter\n\nof an uncontrolled wildfire of any size that necessitates the use of\n\ndirect or indirect tactical suppression actions to control the\n\nwildfire;\n\n6. \"Forest rangers\" means all employees of the Forestry\n\nDivision who have responsibilities in forest and natural resource\n\nprotection, including laborers, mechanics, and other employees who\n\nassist in forest and natural resource protection;\n\n7. \"Forest\" means a tract of land that is at least ten percent\n\n(10%) stocked by trees of any size, whether of commercial or\n\nnoncommercial species, or formerly having tree cover and not\n\ncurrently developed for non-forest use, including woodlands,\n\nwoodlots, windbreaks, and shelterbelts;\n\n8. \"Hazardous duty\" means actions performed on or near the fire\n\nline required to fight and control wildfires in order to protect\n\nlives, property, forests, and natural resources as well as functions\n\nassociated with wildland hazardous fuels reduction work to mitigate\n\nand reduce wildfire threat to lives, property, forests, and natural\n\nresources;\n\n9. \"Logging or timber harvesting operations\" means the cutting\n\nor harvesting of and removal of timber from a site, leaving the root\n\nmass intact;\n\n10. \"Owner\" means the possessor of a fee interest, a tenant,\n\nlessee, occupant, or other person in lawful control of land;\n\n11. \"Prescribed burning\" means the controlled application of\n\nfire by the owner or designated agent of croplands, rangelands, or\n\nforestlands to naturally occurring vegetative fuel under specified\n\nenvironmental conditions and following appropriate precautionary\n\nmeasures intended to keep the fire confined to a predetermined area\n\nand accomplish land management objectives;\n\n12. \"Timber\" means live and dead trees and the profit in any\n\nlive and dead trees including, but not limited to, bark, foliage,\n\nwood, vines, firewood, crossties, and shrubbery;\n\n13. \"Timber owner\" means any person who owns the right to cut\n\nor harvest timber at the time the timber is to be cut or harvested,\n\nor who legally owns the severed timber;\n\n14. \"Wildfires\" means any fire which is not controlled on\n\nforests, grasslands, fields, or croplands;\n\n15. \"Wildland\" means any undeveloped land regardless of\n\nvegetative plant cover including forest, prairie, marsh, and swamp;\n\nand\n\n16. \"Wildland firefighter\" means any forest ranger employed by\n\nthe Forestry Division whose duty to fight wildfires includes\n\nincident management, fire suppression, and hazardous wildland fuel\n\nmitigation.","path":["OK Code","Title 2"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os2.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"607cc41bf0a56e3f559212ed8164b48b64e7f2ea11e65cb857bfe2153393b7b1","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-2-2-16-12","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-2-2-16-21"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
