Stat. tit. 2, § 2-3-100.1","heading":"Definitions","body":"For purposes of the Oklahoma Apiary Act:\n\n1. “Abandoned apiary” means any apiary not regularly attended\n\nin accordance with good beekeeping practices;\n\n2. “Africanized honeybee” or “Apis mellifers scutellata” means\n\na hybridized bee of African descent that at any stage of development\n\nis considered a pest to bees, humans, and animals;\n\n3. \"Apiary\" means a place where one or more colonies or nuclei\n\nof bees are kept;\n\n4. \"Apiary equipment\" means any apparatus, tools, clothing,\n\nmachines, or other devices used in the handling and manipulation of\n\nbees, honey, wax, pollen, propolis, and hives and includes, but is\n\nnot limited to, any containers of honey or wax that may be used in\n\nany apiary, any vehicle used in transporting bees and products, or\n\napiary supplies;\n\n5. \"Bee\" means any one of the honey-producing genera of Apis\n\nincluding any queen, worker, or drone, or any of their four life\n\nstages. The term bee includes, but is not limited to, any species\n\nof bees used for commercial pollinating purposes;\n\n6. \"Beekeeper\" means a person who owns, possesses, controls, or\n\nmanages one or more colonies of bees for any purpose;\n\n7. “Bee disease” means an abnormal condition of the eggs,\n\nlarvae, pupae, or adult stages of bees that impairs normal\n\nfunctioning;\n\n8. “Certificate of inspection” means a document issued based on\n\nan inspection by the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food, and\n\nForestry or other state or province stating that the apiary, bees,\n\nand apiary equipment appear free of bee diseases and pests;\n\n9. \"Colony\" means an aggregate of worker bees, drones, queen,\n\nand developing young bees and the hive and its components including\n\ncomb, honey, propolis, and pollen;\n\n10. “Feral colony” means any colony that is not managed\n\naccording to good beekeeping practices;\n\n11. \"Hive\" means any domicile for keeping bees;\n\n12. \"Honey house\" means any room in any building where honey is\n\nextracted, stored in raw form, processed, or packaged;\n\n13. \"Migratory beekeeper\" means a beekeeper who moves or\n\ntransports colonies of bees into the state to a more favorable\n\nlocation for the purpose of wintering colonies, increasing the\n\nstrength of colonies, increasing the number of colonies, providing\n\npollination services, or for honey production;\n\n14. “Nucleus” means any division or portion of a colony that\n\ncontains comb and bees;\n\n15. \"Pest\" means any living organism which is responsible,\n\ndirectly or indirectly, for any condition that is or may be harmful\n\nor detrimental to bees in any of their four life stages, or\n\ninterferes with their management including, but not limited to,\n\ndiseases, parasites, and Africanized honeybees;\n\n16. \"Pollination\" means the use of bees for the transfer of\n\npollen in crops;\n\n17. \"Premise\" means any place where bees, colonies, hive,\n\napiary equipment, or honey may be located including, but not limited\n\nto, apiaries; and\n\n18. \"Quarantine\" means, but is not limited to, any order, hold,\n\ndetainment, affected area, infected premise or area, movement\n\nrestrictions of any kind, or notice issued by any state or federal\n\nentity specifying boundaries or conditions placed on any apiary,\n\napiary equipment, bees, hives, or honey at its location after\n\ndiscovering the presence of a bee disease or pest.","path":["OK Code","Title 2"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os2.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"5e6407ca58201e238ee2ff881aecf33cdc458c3ad2f9ca0f6e9434ffcc0ffcce","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-2-2-3-100","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-2-2-3-101"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
