The Department shall administer the provisions of the Urban\n\nGardens Grant Act.\n\nB. The State Board of Agriculture shall promulgate rules and\n\nadopt eligibility guidelines necessary to enforce and administer the\n\nUrban Gardens Grant Act, including an application process for\n\ngrants. Entities that receive grants must be located in food\n\ndeserts and serve residents of the community in which they are\n\nlocated. The applicants shall show that an awarded grant will\n\nexpand and stimulate economic activity in the low income areas\n\nserved, as well as provide increased opportunities for the citizens\n\nof those low income areas to obtain healthier food options.\n\nC. One-time grants up to Two Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars\n\n($250,000.00) shall be provided to entities for the purchase of\n\ngreenhouses and other materials to establish and operate an urban\n\ngarden.\n\nD. Entities eligible to apply for the grants are nonprofit\n\ncommunity organizations, churches, or other nonprofit organizations.\n\nE.
