Farm to School Programs link schools and Oklahoma farms in\n\norder to provide schools with fresh and minimally processed farm\n\ncommodities for inclusion in school meals and snacks, to help\n\nchildren develop healthy eating habits, and to improve Oklahoma\n\nfarmers’ incomes and direct access to markets; and\n\n2. The benefits of Farm to School Programs often include\n\nactivities that provide students with hands-on learning\n\nopportunities, such as farm visits, cooking demonstrations, and\n\nschool gardening and composting programs, and integrate nutrition\n\nand agriculture education into school curricula.\n\nB. It is the intent of the Legislature that school districts\n\nencourage the implementation of the Oklahoma Farm to School Program,\n\nwhich will emphasize the purchase of locally and regionally produced\n\nfoods in order to improve child nutrition and strengthen local and\n\nregional farm economies.\n\nC. A successful statewide Farm to School Program will require\n\nthe resources, expertise, and collaboration of a variety of state\n\nagencies, including the State Department of Education, the State\n\nDepartment of Health, the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food,\n\nand Forestry, the Department of Human Services, and a nonprofit\n\nagency that has experience in Farm to School Programs.","path":["OK Code","Title 2"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os2.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"06dce859151700758afb6f5e56a86e07713488e9b3850bd57a20777a8532c2f2","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-2-2-5-60.19","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-2-2-5-60.20"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
