Exotic livestock and exotic livestock products are becoming\n\nan important source of the nation's supply of food. It is essential\n\nin the public interest that the health and welfare of consumers be\n\nprotected by assuring that slaughtered exotic livestock and exotic\n\nlivestock products distributed to them are wholesome, not\n\nadulterated, and properly marked, labeled, and packaged.\n\nUnwholesome, adulterated, or misbranded exotic livestock are\n\ninjurious to the public welfare, destroy markets for wholesome, not\n\nadulterated, and properly labeled and packaged exotic livestock and\n\nexotic livestock products, and result in sundry losses to exotic\n\nlivestock producers and processors of exotic livestock and exotic\n\nlivestock products, as well as injury to consumers. The\n\nunwholesome, adulterated, mislabeled, or deceptively packaged\n\narticles can be sold at lower prices and compete unfairly with the\n\nwholesome, not adulterated, and properly labeled and packaged\n\narticles, to the detriment of consumers and the public generally.\n\nB.
