Stat. tit. 2, § 2-6-502","heading":"Definitions","body":"As used in the Oklahoma Farmed Cervidae Act:\n\n1. \"Cervid\", \"cervidae\", and \"deer\" mean any member of the\n\ncervidae family;\n\n2. \"Commercial\" means to manage on a business basis or engage in\n\nany transaction or exchange for consideration including barter, the\n\noffer to sell, or possession with intent to sell for profit or\n\nmonetary gain;\n\n3. \"Department\" means the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture,\n\nFood, and Forestry;\n\n4. \"Farmed cervidae\" means all species of the cervid family and\n\nhybrids including white-tailed deer, elk, mule deer, red deer, or any\n\nother member of the family cervidae specified in rule by the State\n\nBoard of Agriculture with written concurrence of the Department of\n\nWildlife Conservation that are raised or maintained within a\n\nperimeter fence or confined space for the production of meat and\n\nother agricultural products, sport, exhibition, personal use, or any\n\nother purpose. Farmed cervidae shall be considered livestock as long\n\nas they remain in a farmed cervidae facility. Farmed cervidae shall\n\nnot include cervidae in a commercially licensed hunting facility;\n\n5. \"Farmed cervidae facility\" means any private or public\n\npremises that contain one or more privately owned cervidae and the\n\nprivately owned cervidae are not removed from the premises through\n\nhunting;\n\n6. \"Native cervidae\" means any and all cervidae that are\n\nindigenous to Oklahoma or are living in a state of nature;\n\n7. \"Noncommercial\" means to manage for personal enjoyment and\n\npersonal use;\n\n8. \"Operator\" means the person who performs the daily farmed\n\ncervidae management functions;\n\n9. \"Owner\" means a person with legal title to a farmed cervid or\n\nherd of farmed cervidae;\n\n10. \"Premises\" means the ground, area, buildings, water source\n\nand equipment commonly shared by a herd of cervidae; and\n\n11. \"Proof of ownership\" means an inspection certificate of\n\nsale from a licensed public livestock market showing individual\n\nidentification, a bill of sale, a certificate of sale, court orders,\n\na statement that the cervidae was born from animals owned by the\n\nseller, or any other document the Department deems acceptable.","path":["OK Code","Title 2"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os2.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"ea2ba1334f8d38111df0db14f78fd74d756a820f0ebd0b8644d251c455812e6f","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-2-2-6-501","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-2-2-6-503"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
