The State Board of Examiners of Certified Shorthand\n\nReporters shall:\n\n1. Conduct preliminary investigations to determine the\n\nqualifications of applicants seeking to attain the status of\n\ncertified shorthand reporters;\n\n2. Conduct at least once a year, at a place and time to be\n\npublished by ample notice as directed by the Supreme Court, an\n\nexamination of those persons who seek to attain the status of\n\ncertified shorthand reporter. The Board may also give examinations\n\nfor a certificate of proficiency and for a certificate of merit;\n\n3. Recommend to the Supreme Court for official enrollment as\n\ncertified shorthand reporters those persons who, on their\n\nexamination, have established the requisite proficiency as set forth\n\nin Section 1503 of this title;\n\n4. Conduct proceedings, on reasonable notice, the object of\n\nwhich is to recommend to the Supreme Court the suspension,\n\ncancellation, revocation or reinstatement of the enrollment of a\n\ncertified or licensed shorthand reporter or of the status of any\n\nacting shorthand reporter, regular or temporary, on the following\n\ngrounds:\n\na. a final conviction of a criminal offense which\n\nindicates a clear and rational likelihood that the\n\nreporter will not properly discharge the\n\nresponsibilities of persons licensed under this act or\n\nSection 106.3B of this title,\n\nb. misrepresentation in obtaining licensure,\n\nc. any violation of or noncompliance with any rule or\n\ndirective of the Supreme Court,\n\nd. fraud, gross incompetence, or gross or habitual\n\nneglect of duty,\n\ne. engaging in the practice of shorthand reporting using\n\na method for which the reporter is not certified,\n\nf. engaging in the practice of shorthand reporting while\n\ncertification is suspended,\n\ng. nonpayment of renewal dues,\n\nh. failure to annually complete at least four (4) hours\n\nof continuing education approved by the State Board of\n\nExaminers of Certified Shorthand Reporters, or\n\ni. a violation of Section 1 of this act;\n\n5. Adopt, with the approval of the Supreme Court, examination\n\nstandards and rules governing enrollment, discipline, suspension,\n\ncancellation and revocation proceedings and any other matter within\n\nthe Board's cognizance; and\n\n6. Keep a current roll of certified shorthand reporters and a\n\nfile on all disciplined certified shorthand reporters, official or\n\nunofficial, regular or temporary.\n\nB.
