Every applicant who seeks to be examined for enrollment as a\n\ncertified shorthand reporter shall prove to the satisfaction of the\n\nState Board of Examiners of Certified Shorthand Reporters that he or\n\nshe:\n\n1. Is of legal age;\n\n2. Meets the requisite standards of ethical fitness; and\n\n3. Has at least a high school education or its equivalent.\n\nB. The examination for certification in one or more authorized\n\nmethods of shorthand reporting consists of two parts, designated\n\nPart 1 and Part 2 as follows:\n\n1. Part 1 consists of the test as authorized by the Supreme\n\nCourt consisting of the following requirements: demonstrated\n\nproficiency in reporting testimony and proceedings at a speed of not\n\nmore than two hundred (200) words per minute in taking a question-\n\nand-answer type dictation and at a speed of not more than one\n\nhundred eighty (180) words per minute in taking literary materials\n\nwhich shall be designed to test the ability of an applicant to\n\naccurately prepare a transcript of testimony and proceedings that is\n\nreasonably free from spelling errors. The Board may not increase or\n\ndecrease such minimum speed requirement, by rule or otherwise; and\n\n2. Part 2 is the Oklahoma Written Knowledge test which consists\n\nof not less than twenty-five multiple choice questions relating to\n\nOklahoma law and court rules, duties of certified shorthand\n\nreporters, and general court procedure. The examination shall be\n\napproved by the Supreme Court. A person who has tested with the\n\nBoard and successfully completed the written knowledge portion of\n\nthe examination shall be allowed to retain the credit for that\n\nportion for two (2) years from the date passed, and shall not be\n\nrequired to retake that portion during the two-year period.\n\nC. An applicant who is academically dishonest when taking any\n\nauthorized examination is disqualified and may not take the\n\nexamination again until two (2) years have elapsed from the date of\n\nthe examination at which the applicant was disqualified.\n\nD. A certification issued under this section must be for one or\n\nmore of the following methods of shorthand reporting:\n\n1. Written shorthand;\n\n2. Machine shorthand; or\n\n3. Any other method of shorthand reporting authorized by the\n\nSupreme Court.\n\nE.
