Stat. tit. 20, § 20-23","heading":"Authorization to make rules or orders relating to District","body":"Courts.\n\nThe Supreme Court is authorized by rule or order to:\n\n(1) Provide for the election by the district and associate\n\ndistrict judges within each administrative district of a district\n\njudge as presiding judge of the administrative district.\n\n(2) Fix the administrative powers of the presiding judge,\n\nincluding but not limited to rules under which the presiding judge\n\nmay assign judges to hold court outside of their own district but\n\nwithin the administrative district. Where not inconsistent with the\n\nrules of the Supreme Court, the presiding judge of the judicial\n\nadministrative district may adopt rules that are calculated to bring\n\nabout a more speedy and efficient administration of justice within\n\nhis administrative district, including the appropriate times and\n\nplaces of holding court.\n\n(3) Provide for meetings of the presiding judges of the\n\nadministrative districts to discuss any matters calculated to bring\n\nabout a better and more efficient administration of justice.\n\n(4) Prescribe the times and places where the district court may\n\nhold court. When authorizing the holding of court in a city other\n\nthan the county seat, the Supreme Court may provide the times when\n\nthe office of the court clerk in such other cities shall be open for\n\nthe transaction of business.\n\n(5) Adopt rules relating to the assignment of district judges,\n\nassociate district judges and special judges to hold court anywhere\n\nin the state and authorizing the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court\n\nto make such assignments.\n\n(6) Provide for meetings of the judges within an administrative\n\ndistrict for the purpose of coordinating their work, the discussion\n\nof their dockets and work loads, the determination of what judges\n\nmay be available for assignment outside of their own districts, and\n\nother matters calculated to bring about a better and more efficient\n\nadministration of justice.\n\n(7) Make all such other rules and orders as may appear advisable\n\nto better equalize the work load of the various judges and bring\n\nabout a more speedy and efficient administration of justice within\n\nthe state.\n\n(8) The Supreme Court shall provide by rules the minimum number\n\nof jury and nonjury terms to be held in each county during any one\n\nyear.","path":["OK Code","Title 20"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os20.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"3079111235672e5f37ed1eb9b0ee55de357d7be20335d1a057af160b114a8189","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-20-20-22","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-20-20-24"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
