Stat. tit. 21, § 21-1176","heading":"Use of electronic communication device to threaten,","body":"intimidate, or harass a peace officer, public official, medical\n\nprovider, or crime victim.\n\nA. Whoever, with the intent to threaten, intimidate or harass,\n\nor facilitate another to threaten, intimidate or harass, uses an\n\nelectronic communication device to knowingly publish, post or\n\notherwise make publicly available personally identifiable\n\ninformation of a peace officer, public official, election official,\n\nmedical care provider, or crime victim, and as a result places that\n\npeace officer, public official, election official, medical care\n\nprovider, or crime victim in reasonable fear of death or serious\n\nbodily injury shall, upon conviction, be guilty of a misdemeanor\n\npunishable by imprisonment in the county jail for a term not to\n\nexceed six (6) months, or by a fine not to exceed One Thousand\n\nDollars ($1,000.00), or by both such fine and imprisonment. Upon\n\nconviction for a second or subsequent violation, the person shall be\n\npunished by imprisonment in the county jail for a term not to exceed\n\none (1) year, or by a fine not to exceed Two Thousand Dollars\n\n($2,000.00), or by both such fine and imprisonment.\n\nB. To the extent the provisions of Section A apply to medical\n\ncare providers, the protections provided herein shall not apply when\n\nthe incident is unrelated to the provider’s professional duties.\n\nC. As used in this section:\n\n1. “Crime victim” shall have the same meaning as defined in\n\nSection 142A-1 of this title;\n\n2. “Election Official” means a member or employee of the State\n\nElection Board or a county election board, the Secretary of the\n\nState Election Board or a county election board, or a person serving\n\nas a precinct official or absentee voting board member appointed as\n\nrequired by law;\n\n3. “Electronic communication” shall have the same meaning as\n\ndefined in Section 1172 of this title. Electronic communication\n\ndoes not include broadcast transmissions or similar communications\n\nthat are not targeted at any specific individual;\n\n4. “Electronic communication device” means any cellular\n\ntelephone, facsimile, pager, computer, or any device capable of\n\nelectronic communication;\n\n5. “Medical care provider” means a doctor, resident, intern,\n\nnurse, nurse practitioner, nurses’ aide, ambulance attendant or\n\noperator, paramedic, emergency medical technician, laboratory\n\ntechnician, radiologic technologist, physical therapist, physician\n\nassistant, chaplain of a health care facility, volunteer of a health\n\ncare facility, pharmacist, nursing student, medical student, member\n\nof a hospital security force, and any other employee or contractor\n\nworking in or for a health care facility;\n\n6. “Peace officer” shall have the same meaning as that term is\n\ndefined in Section 99 of this title;\n\n7. “Personally identifiable information” means information\n\nwhich can identify an individual including but not limited to name,\n\nbirth date, place of birth, mother’s maiden name, biometric records,\n\nSocial Security number, official state- or government-issued driver\n\nlicense or identification number, government passport number,\n\nemployer or taxpayer identification number or any other information\n\nthat is linked or linkable to an individual, such as medical,\n\neducational, financial or employment information;\n\n8. “Public official” means any person elected or appointed to a\n\nstate office in the executive, legislative, or judicial branch of\n\nstate government or other political subdivision of the state; and\n\n9. “Publish” means to circulate, deliver, distribute,\n\ndisseminate, transmit, or otherwise make available to another\n\nperson.","path":["OK Code","Title 21"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os21.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"47c06b9b692127ed216e09b64e95345accc632a9c4170f711144a8a1a7b21a01","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-21-21-1175","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-21-21-1190"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
