Stat. tit. 21, § 21-1289.16v2","heading":"Felony pointing firearms","body":"FELONY POINTING FIREARMS\n\nExcept for an act of self-defense, it shall be unlawful for any\n\nperson to willfully or without lawful cause point a shotgun, rifle\n\nor pistol, or any deadly weapon, whether loaded or not, at any\n\nperson or persons for the purpose of threatening or with the\n\nintention of discharging the firearm or with any malice or for any\n\npurpose of injuring, either through physical injury or mental or\n\nemotional intimidation or for purposes of whimsy, humor or prank, or\n\nin anger or otherwise, but not to include the pointing of shotguns,\n\nrifles or pistols by law enforcement authorities in the performance\n\nof their duties, armed security guards licensed by the Council on\n\nLaw Enforcement Education and Training pursuant to the Oklahoma\n\nSecurity Guard and Private Investigator Act in the performance of\n\ntheir duties, members of the state military forces in the\n\nperformance of their duties, members of the federal military reserve\n\nand active military components in the performance of their duties,\n\nor any federal government law enforcement officer in the performance\n\nof any duty, or in the performance of a play on stage, rodeo,\n\ntelevision or on film, or in defense of any person, one's home or\n\nproperty. Any person convicted of a violation of the provisions of\n\nthis section shall be guilty of a Class B4 felony offense and shall\n\nbe punished as provided in Section 1289.17 of this title.\n\nAny person convicted of a violation of the provisions of this\n\nsection after having been issued a handgun license pursuant to the\n\nOklahoma Self-Defense Act shall have the license revoked and shall\n\nbe subject to an administrative fine of One Thousand Dollars\n\n($1,000.00), upon a hearing and determination by the Oklahoma State\n\nBureau of Investigation that the person is in violation of the\n\nprovisions of this section.","path":["OK Code","Title 21"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os21.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"cf8cf30602709611df6b0eb2417d3d1a0abcf3582a9a92f6d9ccf5a0c0457da1","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-21-21-1289.16v1","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-21-21-1289.17"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
