The Crime Victims Compensation Board shall award\n\ncompensation for economic loss arising from criminally injurious\n\nconduct if satisfied by a preponderance of the evidence that the\n\nrequirements for compensation have been met. The Administrator of\n\nthe Crime Victims Compensation Board may determine initial victims'\n\nclaims and any victim's claim up to Ten Thousand Dollars\n\n($10,000.00). The Board may delegate any other victim's claim to\n\nthe Administrator of the Crime Victims Compensation Board at their\n\ndiscretion. The claimant shall have a right of appeal to the Board\n\nfor any claim in dispute.\n\nB. The Board shall hear and determine all matters relating to\n\nclaims for compensation of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) or more\n\nand may hear claims under Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00). The\n\nBoard shall be able to reinvestigate or reopen claims without regard\n\nto statutes of limitation. However, claims that have been inactive\n\nfor a period of more than three (3) years from the date of the last\n\naction by the Board shall be deemed closed and any further action\n\nforever barred. Claim files may be destroyed after a claim is\n\nclosed. Claims which have been declined may be destroyed after nine\n\n(9) months, following the last Board action, provided the claimant\n\nhas not notified the Board of any intentions to request\n\nreconsideration of the claim.\n\nC. The Board shall have the power to subpoena witnesses, compel\n\ntheir attendance, require the production of records and other\n\nevidence, administer oaths or affirmations, conduct hearings and\n\nreceive relevant evidence.\n\nD.
