Upon the request of a sexual assault victim, the\n\ninvestigating law enforcement agency shall inform the victim of the\n\nstatus of the sexual assault forensic evidence from the criminal\n\ncase of the victim. The law enforcement agency may, at its\n\ndiscretion, require that the request by the victim be in writing.\n\nThe provisions of this subsection shall not require a law\n\nenforcement agency to communicate with the victim or the advocate of\n\nthe victim regarding the status of forensic testing absent a\n\nspecific request from the victim or advocate of the victim.\n\nB. Sexual assault victims have the right to be informed of the\n\nfollowing:\n\n1. Whether or not a deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) profile was\n\nobtained from the testing of the sexual assault forensic evidence\n\nfrom the criminal case of the victim;\n\n2. Whether or not the DNA profile developed from the sexual\n\nassault forensic evidence has been entered into the Combined DNA\n\nIndex System (CODIS) Database; and\n\n3. Whether or not there is a confirmed match between the DNA\n\nprofile developed from the sexual assault evidence and a DNA profile\n\ncontained in the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS) Database.\n\nC. This section is intended to encourage law enforcement\n\nagencies to notify victims of information that is in the possession\n\nof the law enforcement agencies.\n\nD.
