Stat. tit. 21, § 21-1702","heading":"Larceny of lost property","body":"One who finds lost property under circumstances which gives him\n\nknowledge or means of inquiry as to the true owner, and who\n\nappropriates such property to his own use, or to the use of another\n\nperson who is not entitled thereto, without having first made such\n\neffort to find the owner and restore the property to him as the\n\ncircumstances render reasonable and just, is guilty of larceny\n\npunishable as follows:\n\n1. If the value of the property is less than One Thousand\n\nDollars ($ 1,000.00), the person shall be guilty of a misdemeanor\n\npunishable by imprisonment in the county jail not to exceed one (1)\n\nyear, or by a fine not to exceed Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00), or\n\nby both such imprisonment and fine;\n\n2. If the value of the property is One Thousand Dollars\n\n($1,000.00) or more but less than Two Thousand Five Hundred Dollars\n\n($2,500.00), the person shall be guilty of a Class D3 felony offense\n\npunishable by imprisonment as provided for in subsections B through\n\nF of Section 20P of this title, or by a fine not to exceed One\n\nThousand Dollars ($1,000.00), or by both such imprisonment and fine;\n\n3. If the value of the property is Two Thousand Five Hundred\n\nDollars ($2,500.00) or more but less than Fifteen Thousand Dollars\n\n($15,000.00), the person shall be guilty of a Class D1 felony\n\noffense punishable by imprisonment as provided for in subsections B\n\nthrough F of Section 20N of this title, or by a fine not to exceed\n\nOne Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00), or by both such imprisonment and\n\nfine; and\n\n4. If the value of the property is Fifteen Thousand Dollars\n\n($15,000.00) or more, the person shall be guilty of a Class C2\n\nfelony offense punishable by imprisonment as provided for in\n\nsubsections B through F of Section 20M of this title, or by a fine\n\nnot to exceed One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00), or by both such\n\nimprisonment and fine.\n\nR.L. 1910, § 2653.
