Stat. tit. 21, § 21-1779","heading":"Injuring written instruments the false making of which","body":"would be forgery.\n\nEvery person who maliciously mutilates, tears, defaces,\n\nobliterates, or destroys any written instrument being the property\n\nof another, the false making of which would be forgery, is\n\npunishable in the same manner as the forgery of such instrument is\n\nmade punishable.\n\n1. If the value of the property is Fifteen Thousand Dollars\n\n($15,000.00) or more, the person shall, upon conviction, be guilty\n\nof a Class C2 felony offense and shall be punished by imprisonment\n\nas provided for in subsections B through F of Section 20M of this\n\ntitle.\n\n2. If the value of the property is Two Thousand Five Hundred\n\nDollars ($2,500.00) or more but less than Fifteen Thousand Dollars\n\n($15,000.00), the person shall, upon conviction, be guilty of a\n\nClass D1 felony offense and shall be punished by imprisonment as\n\nprovided for in subsections B through F of Section 20N of this\n\ntitle.\n\n3.
