Stat. tit. 21, § 21-1952","heading":"Definitions","body":"As used in the Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act:\n\n1. \"Access\" means to approach, gain entry to, instruct,\n\ncommunicate with, store data in, retrieve data from or otherwise use\n\nthe logical, arithmetical, memory or other resources of a computer,\n\ncomputer system or computer network;\n\n2. \"Computer\" means an electronic device which performs work\n\nusing programmed instruction having one or more of the capabilities\n\nof storage, logic, arithmetic or communication. The term includes\n\ninput, output, processing, storage, software and communication\n\nfacilities which are connected or related to a device in a system or\n\nnetwork;\n\n3. \"Computer network\" means the wired or wireless physical or\n\nlogical interconnection of one or more computers or computer systems\n\nto each other, or to other computer networks, for the purpose of\n\ntransmitting or receiving computer programs, computer software or\n\ndata;\n\n4. \"Computer program\" means a set or series of instructions or\n\nstatements and related data which when executed in actual or\n\nmodified form directs or is intended to direct the functioning of a\n\ncomputer system in a manner designed to perform certain operations;\n\n5. \"Computer software\" means one or more computer programs,\n\nprocedures and associated documentation used in the operation of a\n\ncomputer system;\n\n6. \"Computer system\" means a set of related, connected or\n\nunconnected, computer equipment, devices including support devices,\n\none or more of which contain computer programs, electronic\n\ninstructions, input data, and output data, that performs functions\n\nincluding, but not limited to, logic, arithmetic, data storage and\n\nretrieval, communication, and control and software. The term does\n\nnot include calculators which are not programmable and are not\n\ncapable of being connected to or used to access other computers,\n\ncomputer networks, computer systems or support devices;\n\n7. \"Data\" means a representation of information, knowledge,\n\nfacts, concepts, computer software, computer programs or\n\ninstructions. Data may be in any form, in storage media, or as\n\nstored in the memory of the computer or in transit or presented on a\n\ndisplay device;\n\n8. \"Malicious computer program\" means any computer program that\n\nis created, executed, modified or distributed with the intent to\n\ndisrupt, destroy, deny access to, redirect, defraud, deceive, exceed\n\nor gain unauthorized access to any computer, computer system,\n\ncomputer network or data. Malicious computer program includes, but\n\nis not limited to, viruses, Trojan horses, spyware, worms, rootkits,\n\nbackdoors, ransomware and other malicious computer instructions,\n\nwhether part of or independent of broader computer software or\n\ncomputer systems;\n\n9. \"Property\" means any tangible or intangible item of value\n\nand includes, but is not limited to, financial instruments,\n\ngeophysical data or the interpretation of that data, information,\n\ncomputer software, computer programs, electronically-produced data\n\nand computer-produced or stored data, supporting documentation,\n\ncomputer software in either machine or human readable form,\n\nelectronic impulses, confidential, copyrighted or proprietary\n\ninformation, private identification codes or numbers which permit\n\naccess to a computer by authorized computer users or generate\n\nbillings to consumers for purchase of goods and services including,\n\nbut not limited to, credit card transactions and telecommunications\n\nservices or permit electronic fund transfers and any other tangible\n\nor intangible item of value;\n\n10. \"Services\" includes, but is not limited to, computer time,\n\ndata processing and storage functions and other uses of a computer,\n\ncomputer system or computer network to perform useful work;\n\n11. \"Supporting documentation\" includes, but is not limited to,\n\nall documentation in any form used in the construction, design,\n\nclassification, implementation, use or modification of computer\nm of value;\n\n10. \"Services\" includes, but is not limited to, computer time,\n\ndata processing and storage functions and other uses of a computer,\n\ncomputer system or computer network to perform useful work;\n\n11. \"Supporting documentation\" includes, but is not limited to,\n\nall documentation in any form used in the construction, design,\n\nclassification, implementation, use or modification of computer\n\nsoftware, computer programs or data; and\n\n12. \"Victim expenditure\" means any expenditure reasonably and\n\nnecessarily incurred by the owner or lessee to verify that a\n\ncomputer system, computer network, computer program or data was or\n\nwas not altered, deleted, disrupted, damaged or destroyed by the\n\naccess.","path":["OK Code","Title 21"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os21.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"28ccc28651496f2d98a1be2d9d9da0fbf1d560c7060a336199910dec4c3ed221","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-21-21-1951","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-21-21-1953"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
