Stat. tit. 21, § 21-548","heading":"Buying or selling pretended right or title to land","body":"Any person who buys or sells, or in any manner procures, or\n\nmakes or takes any promise or covenant to convey any pretended right\n\nor title to any lands or tenements, unless the grantor thereof, or\n\nthe person making such promise or covenant has been in possession,\n\nor he and those by whom he claims have been in possession of the\n\nsame, or of the reversion and remainder thereof, or have taken the\n\nrents and profits thereof for the space of one (1) year before such\n\ngrant, conveyance, sale promise, or covenant made, is guilty of a\n\nmisdemeanor.
