Stat. tit. 21, § 21-554","heading":"Attorneys - Buying demands for suit - Misleading inferior","body":"courts.\n\nEvery attorney who either directly or indirectly buys or is\n\ninterested in buying any evidence of debt or thing in action with\n\nintent to bring suit thereon is guilty of a misdemeanor. Any\n\nattorney who in any proceeding before any court of a justice of the\n\npeace or police judge or other inferior court in which he appears as\n\nattorney, willfully misstates any proposition or seeks to mislead\n\nthe court in any matter of law is guilty of a misdemeanor and on any\n\ntrial therefor the state shall only be held to prove to the court\n\nthat the cause was pending, that the defendant appeared as an\n\nattorney in the action, and showing what the legal statement was,\n\nwherein it is not the law.
