Stat. tit. 21, § 21-648","heading":"Definitions","body":"A. “Police officer”, “police” or “peace officer” means any duly\n\nappointed person who is charged with the responsibility of\n\nmaintaining public order, safety, and health by the enforcement of\n\nall laws, ordinances or orders of this state or any of its political\n\nsubdivisions and who is authorized to bear arms in execution of his\n\nresponsibilities, including reserve force deputies, reserve\n\nmunicipal police officers, and tribal law enforcement officers who\n\nare commissioned pursuant to a cross-deputization agreement\n\nauthorized by Section 1221 of Title 74 of the Oklahoma Statutes.\n\nB. “Police dog” means any dog used by a law enforcement agency\n\nof this state, a political subdivision of this state or a tribal law\n\nenforcement officer who is commissioned pursuant to a cross-\n\ndeputization agreement authorized by Section 1221 of Title 74 of the\n\nOklahoma Statutes, which is especially trained for law enforcement\n\nwork and is subject to the control of a dog handler.\n\nC. “Police horse” means any horse which is used by a law\n\nenforcement agency of this state, a political subdivision of this\n\nstate or a tribal law enforcement officer who is commissioned\n\npursuant to a cross-deputization agreement authorized by Section\n\n1221 of Title 74 of the Oklahoma Statutes for law enforcement work.\n\nD. “Dog handler” means any police officer or peace officer who\n\nhas successfully completed training in the handling of a police dog\n\nas established by the policy or standard of the law enforcement\n\nagency employing said officer.","path":["OK Code","Title 21"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os21.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"03f8f88992286f781630a7c2329cc76b4b5183ce34bbd8635223297a01f7d6cb","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-21-21-647","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-21-21-649"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
