Every person who commits any assault upon any county\n\ncommissioner, county clerk, county assessor, county treasurer, or\n\nany officer of a state district or appellate court, or the Workers'\n\nCompensation Court, including but not limited to judges, bailiffs,\n\ncourt reporters, court clerks or deputy court clerks, or upon any\n\nwitnesses or juror, because of said person's service in such\n\ncapacity or within six (6) months of said person's service in such\n\ncapacity, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by\n\nimprisonment in the county jail for not more than one (1) year, by a\n\nfine not to exceed One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00), or by both such\n\nimprisonment and fine.\n\nB. Every person who commits any battery or assault and battery\n\nupon any county commissioner, county clerk, county assessor, county\n\ntreasurer, or officer of a state district or appellate court, or the\n\nWorkers' Compensation Court, including but not limited to judges,\n\nbailiffs, court reporters, court clerks or deputy court clerks, or\n\nupon any witnesses or juror, because of said person's service in\n\nsuch capacity or within six (6) months of said person's service in\n\nsuch capacity, shall be guilty of a Class B6 felony offense\n\npunishable by imprisonment in the custody of the Department of\n\nCorrections for not more than five (5) years, by a fine of not more\n\nthan Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00), or by both such imprisonment\n\nand fine.\n\nC.
