Every person who, without lawful authority, forcibly seizes\n\nand confines another, or inveigles or kidnaps another, for the\n\npurpose of extorting any money, property or thing of value or\n\nadvantage from the person so seized, confined, inveigled or\n\nkidnapped, or from any other person, or in any manner threatens\n\neither by written instrument, word of mouth, message, telegraph,\n\ntelephone, by placing an ad in a newspaper, or by messenger, demands\n\nmoney or other thing of value, shall be guilty of a Class A1 felony\n\noffense, and upon conviction shall suffer death or imprisonment in\n\nthe State Penitentiary for not less than ten (10) years.\n\nB. Every person, not a principal in the kidnapping and not a\n\nrelative or agent authorized by a relative of a kidnapped person,\n\nbut who knowingly aids, assists, or participates in the disposing,\n\nreceiving, possession or exchanging of any moneys, property or thing\n\nof value or advantage from the person so seized, confined, inveigled\n\nor kidnapped, shall be guilty of a Class A2 felony offense, and upon\n\nconviction thereof shall be punished by imprisonment in the State\n\nPenitentiary for not less than five (5) years.\n\nR.L. 1910, § 2378.
