Stat. tit. 22, § 22-1078","heading":"Amount of bond - Time to make appeal bond - Stay pending","body":"appeal - Additional bond.\n\nWhen bail is allowed, the court shall fix the amount of the\n\nappeal bond and the time in which the bond shall be given in order\n\nto stay the execution of the judgment pending the filing of the\n\nappeal in the appellate court, and until such bond is made shall\n\nhold the defendant in custody. If the bond be given in the time\n\nfixed by the court, the execution of the judgment shall be stayed\n\nduring the time fixed by law for the filing of the appeal in the\n\nappellate court. If the appeal is filed within the time provided by\n\nlaw, then the bond shall stay the execution of the sentence during\n\nthe pendency of the appeal, subject to the power of the court to\n\nrequire a new or additional bond when the same is by the court\n\ndeemed necessary.
