Stat. tit. 22, § 22-1141.12","heading":"Confinement of prisoner in jail","body":"The officer or persons executing the Governor's warrant of\n\narrest, or the agent of the demanding state to whom the prisoner may\n\nhave been delivered may, when necessary, confine the prisoner in the\n\njail of any county or city through which he may pass; and the keeper\n\nof such jail must receive and safely keep the prisoner until the\n\nofficer or person having charge of him is ready to proceed on his\n\nroute, such officer or person being chargeable with the expense of\n\nkeeping.\n\nThe officer or agent of a demanding state to whom a prisoner may\n\nhave been delivered following extradition proceedings in another\n\nstate, or to whom a prisoner may have been delivered after waiving\n\nextradition in such other state, and who is passing through this\n\nstate with such a prisoner for the purpose of immediately returning\n\nsuch prisoner to the demanding state may, when necessary, confine\n\nthe prisoner in the jail of any county or city through which he may\n\npass; and the keeper of such jail must receive and safely keep the\n\nprisoner until the officer or agent having charge of him is ready to\n\nproceed on his route, such officer or agent, however, being\n\nchargeable with the expense of keeping; provided, however, that such\n\nofficer or agent shall produce and show to the keeper of such jail\n\nsatisfactory written evidence of the fact that he is actually\n\ntransporting such prisoner to the demanding state after a\n\nrequisition by the executive authority of such demanding state.
