Stat. tit. 22, § 22-1232","heading":"Disposition of property recovered","body":"When the property is delivered to the magistrate, he must, if it\n\nwas stolen or embezzled, deliver it to the owner on satisfactory\n\nproof of his title, and on his paying the necessary expenses\n\nincurred in its preservation, to be certified by the magistrate.
