Any peace officer who executes a search warrant must\n\nforthwith return the warrant to the magistrate who authorized the\n\nwarrant or to a magistrate who presides in the judicial district in\n\nwhich the property was found and seized together with a written\n\ninventory of the property taken, which shall be made publicly, or in\n\nthe presence of the person from whose possession it was taken and of\n\nthe applicant for the warrant, if they are present, verified by the\n\naffidavit of the officer, and taken before the magistrate, to the\n\nfollowing effect:\n\nI, A. B., the officer by whom this warrant was executed, do\n\nswear that the above inventory contains a true and detailed account\n\nof all the property taken by me on the warrant.\n\nB. Any peace officer who executes a search warrant to search a\n\nthird-party residence for a person with an outstanding warrant must\n\nforthwith return the search warrant to the magistrate who authorized\n\nthe warrant or to a magistrate who presides in the judicial district\n\nin which the person was found by filing an arrest and booking\n\naffidavit or by filing a separate return identifying the person and\n\nthe location where the person was found, verified by the affidavit\n\nof the officer, and taken before the magistrate, to the following\n\neffect:\n\nI, A.
