Stat. tit. 22, § 22-34.2","heading":"Policies or guidelines on use of force to be adopted —","body":"Reporting incidents of excessive force — Contents of report —\n\nFailure to report or making materially false statements.\n\nA. Each law enforcement entity which employs any peace officer\n\nshall adopt policies or guidelines concerning the use of force by\n\npeace officers employed by the entity.\n\nB. Any peace officer, except a newly employed officer during\n\nsuch officer's probationary period, who, in pursuance of such\n\nofficer's law enforcement duties, witnesses another peace officer,\n\nin pursuance of such other peace officer's law enforcement duties in\n\ncarrying out an arrest of any person, placing any person under\n\ndetention, taking any person into custody, booking any person, or in\n\nthe process of crowd control or riot control, use physical force\n\nwhich exceeds the degree of physical force permitted by law or by\n\nthe policies and guidelines of the law enforcement entity, shall\n\nreport such use of excessive force to such officer's immediate\n\nsupervisor.\n\nC. At a minimum, the report required by this section shall\n\ninclude:\n\n1. The date, time, and place of the occurrence;\n\n2. The identity, if known, and description of the participants;\n\n3. A description of the events and the force used.\n\nD. A copy of an arrest report or other similar report required\n\nas a part of a peace officer's duties can be substituted for the\n\nreport required by this section, as long as it includes the\n\ninformation specified in subsection C of this section. The report\n\nshall be made in writing within ten (10) days of the occurrence of\n\nthe use of such force.\n\nE.
