Whenever the Attorney General considers it to be in the\n\npublic interest to convene a grand jury with jurisdiction extending\n\nbeyond the boundaries of a single county, he or she shall file a\n\nverified application with the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, or\n\nwith such Justice of the Supreme Court as is designated by rule to\n\nreceive such application.\n\n2. The application shall:\n\na. state that in the judgment of the Attorney General,\n\nthe convening of a multicounty grand jury is necessary\n\nbecause of organized crime or public corruption, or\n\nboth, involving more than one county of the state and\n\nthat, in the judgment of the Attorney General, the\n\ninvestigation cannot be adequately performed by a\n\ncounty grand jury, and\n\nb. specify those counties for which the multicounty grand\n\njury is to be convened.\n\n3. The Supreme Court, within fifteen (15) days, shall\n\ndetermine whether or not to issue an order convening the multicounty\n\ngrand jury. If an order is issued convening said jury, the purpose\n\nor purposes shall be set forth in such order.\n\nB. An order granting the convening of a multicounty grand jury\n\nissued under subsection A of this section shall:\n\n1. Convene a multicounty grand jury having jurisdiction over\n\nany subject matter listed in Section 353 of this title which occurs\n\nin any single county or in multiple counties of this state approved\n\nby the Supreme Court and requested in the application by the\n\nAttorney General;\n\n2. Designate a district court judge to be the presiding judge\n\nover such multicounty grand jury and provide that such judge shall,\n\nwith respect to investigations, indictments, reports, and all other\n\nproper activities of said multicounty grand jury, have jurisdiction\n\nover all counties in the jurisdiction of said multicounty grand\n\njury; and\n\n3. Provide for such other incidental arrangements as may be\n\nnecessary, including a determination of the share of costs\n\nattributable to the state.\n\nC.
