Stat. tit. 22, § 22-898","heading":"Court during jury's retirement - Sealed verdicts - Final","body":"adjournment for term discharges jury.\n\nWhile the jury are absent the court may adjourn from time to\n\ntime as to other business, but it is nevertheless deemed open for\n\nany purpose connected with the cause submitted to them until verdict\n\nis rendered or the jury discharged. If the jury agree on a verdict\n\nduring a temporary adjournment or recess of the court, they may,\n\nupon the direction of the court, sign the verdict by their foreman,\n\nsecurely seal the same in an envelope, and deliver the same to the\n\nforeman, when they may separate until the next convening of the\n\ncourt, at which time they shall reassemble in the jury room and\n\nreturn their verdict in open court, when the same proceedings shall\n\nbe had as in case of other verdicts.
